Rossignol, located in Isère, France, is a French manufacturer of alpine, snowboard, and nordic equipment as well as related outerwear and accessories. The company was one of the first companies to produce plastic skis and also owns the brand Dynastar as well as LOOK.
Rossignol was founded in 1907 by skier Abel Rossignol as a textile and ski manufacturer. Laurent Boix Vives then bought the company in 1956 and it began selling ski equipment worldwide. In 2005, Rossignol was bought by the boardsport equipment manufacturer Quiksilver, and in 2008 was sold to its former chief executive, Bruno Cercley.
Rossignol is one of the world's premier manufacturers of ski equipment. Its Rossignol skis were used in the 1936 Winter Olympics, the very first to include alpine ski events, and have in later years been worn by numerous Olympic and World Cup champions. From solid wood skis to the Radical Mutix, the first customizable high performance ski, Rossignol's history can be traced through mythical innovations and skis like the Olympic 41, Strato, Rock 550, ST Competition, SM Competition, Equipe 4S, Excess Dualtec, 9X Oversize and Radical Mutix. As the world's leading producer of skis, Rossignol has enjoyed almost universal name recognition among skiers.
